There are four major elements in the narrative concerning sin and forgiveness, in verses 2-11.
The story describes the hypocrisy of the scribes and Pharisees, and the sin of the adulterous woman as it highlights the grace and forgiveness of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I) The Condemnation of Sin (vv. 2-6a)
That is, the Pharisees' and scribes' condemnation of the woman.
II) The Confrontation of Sin (vv. 6b-8)
This is Christ’s confrontation of the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and scribes.
III) The Conviction of Sin (v. 9)
… in view of the sinfulness of the scribes and Pharisees.
IV) The Cleansing of Sin (vv. 10-11)
… The Lord’s confirmation to the woman: of no condemnation and forgiveness.
